150th Anniversary

Building a New Legacy

Building a New Legacy
Maria Rodriguez, a staff member in the national office, takes pledges during our third annual Day of Giving.

On March 23, United Methodist Women celebrated its third annual Day of Giving.

This year you raised a total of $300,000! Thanks to the contribution of an anonymous donor, there were matching funds - and the match was fully met! All Day of Giving gifts go to the Legacy Fund, which has now collected more than $2.4 million. The Legacy Fund is a permanent endowment that will support the mission outreach of future generations of United Methodist Women as they respond to the needs of women, children and youth of their day. The Day of Giving is celebrated March 23 to honor the day of our founding in 1869.

We're now into the third year of our five-year Legacy Fund campaign in honor of our upcoming 150th anniversary in 2019. Now is especially the time to be telling the mission stories of women in your conference. Tell these stories in your congregations, at Mission u, at upcoming fall meetings and at local, district and annual conference events. Share them in newsletters and social media—and especially share them with us at www.unitedmethodistwomen.org/mystory and on the United Methodist Women Living Timeline Facebook page www.facebook.com/ourstorieslivingtimeline. More information on being part of the Living Timeline as well as a downloadable guide to help you collect and share such stories is available at www.unitedmethodistwomen.org/livingtimeline. Invite new women into our legacy of mission by inviting them to Assembly 2018 in Columbus, Ohio, where we'll be hosting our official 150th anniversary celebration.

Tell your stories. Give to the Legacy Fund. The world needs women organized for mission.
