Defending the environment is a dangerous vocation in Latin America. While long-term survival depends on a clean and healthy environment, the short-term risks to advocates are daunting.
The legacy of exploitation and violence in the region did not end at some neat point in history. In fact foreign interests and complicit or corrupt Latin American elites stille to kill and wound the poor in Latin America in order to exploit the land and it's peoples for profit.
Despite the known risks of migration, including arrest and/or separation at the border and even death from dehydration or heatstroke on the way, violence and poverty push families to leave Central America.
In this journey we must listen to God—and be open to an outcome that looks different from what we envisioned.
En este proceso hay que escuchar a Dios y estar abiertas a un resultado que puede verse diferente de lo que habíamos imaginado.
