Ubuntu Journeys are short-term mission opportunities for United Methodist Women members to meet and serve alongside sisters in mission around the world.
There will be three Ubuntu Journeys in 2017.
Travel to Colombia, a mosaic of ethnic and linguistic diversity. Our journey will take us to Cartagena, one of Colombia’s oldest historic cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Learn about the social and political context of Colombian women and the work of The Methodist Church in Colombia Women’s Ministry. Visit three communities of women in Brisas del Mar, San Onofre and Flor del Campo. Experience a rich cultural heritage, hear personal testimonies, and participate in Bible study, songs and group discussions.

Come with us to Porto, Portugal’s second largest city. Portugal is home to the Evangelical Methodist Church that is alive and filled with vibrant women active in the Methodist Women’s Federation. Participate in the annual Women’s Camp. Visit with women from several local churches and assist in education for a multicultural society. Join us as we build relationships that can continue long after our journey has ended.

Visit the beautiful southern African country of Mozambique. Experience and be involved with the work of United Methodist Women of Mozambique and their ministries. Discuss issues and concerns affecting women in both Mozambique and the United States. Explore approaches for building self-esteem and ministering to the vulnerable.
