From May 10-20, 2016, the General Conference of The United Methodist Church will meet in Portland, Oregon. United Methodist Women will be there to ensure women, children and youth are a priority for the denomination and are not overlooked in any legislative, budget or theological decisions. General Conference: Day 1—Meetings, briefings, worship

Day 1 of General Conference 2016.

Technology trainings, committee meetings, orientation for heads of delegations, first time delegates and seminary students and briefings for youth and young adult delegates and delegates of color filled the morning of the first day of General Conference 2016.

Finally, after what felt like years of preparation (because it has been years of preparation), General Conference opened in worship and was called to order.

You can follow along or catch up with the livestream and video at umc.org. There you can also track legislation as it goes through committee. Be sure to follow and pray for United Methodist Women legislation, and you can view all petitions submitted to General Conference by downloading the Advance Daily Christian Advocate

Legislative committees begin meeting Wednesday afternoon. Keep delegates in your prayers.
