Shade and Fresh Water, “Obrigado!”

Shade and Fresh Water, “Obrigado!”
Children at a Shade and Fresh Water after school program in Brazil.

This short video, narrated by missionary Emily Everett, thanks United Methodist Women members, who have been some of the most faithful cheerleaders for Shade and Fresh Water, a life-changing opportunity for children in Brazil. Shade and Fresh Water, a program of the Methodist Church of Brazil supported by United Methodist Women, provides fun and learning activities for children during after school hours, even during the pandemic.

A safe place for more than 2,500 children to be children, this project for children and youth between the ages of six and fourteen, began in 2000. Operating in approximately 56 locations, mostly Methodist churches, Shade and Fresh Water offers healthy alternatives to the destructive influences of poverty, drugs and unstable home lives.

“Even with all of the challenges that 2020 in this global pandemic has brought us, we continue to see God move in some amazing ways with children and teenagers in Brazil and this work would not be possible without the help and constant support of United Methodist Women,” said Ms. Everett. As the children say in the video, “Obrigado!”
