Reading Program

Summer Is a Time to Read

Summer Is a Time to Read

Not every book is for everyone, but for everyone, there is a book. Join the United Methodist Women Reading Program and learn about the world. There are four plans to choose from.

Some of the books' themes for 2017 continue to explore global Christianity; what it means to be a leader in mind and spirit; healing yourself and your community; critical issues, such as guns and violence, class and economic injustice, our environment, and race relations; and knowing and understanding yourself as a child of God.

"United Methodist Women members love to read and we want to make it easier than ever to join the Reading Program," said Brenda Thompson, Reading Program team leader. The 2017 reading lists on the web site link to more formats and versions of the titles than in previous years.

Each year we find fewer resources are available in large print; wherever possible we have provided a link to kindle icon e-book, Compact disc icon audio CD or audio icon downloadable audio versions of the titles to include the visually impaired in the reading program. Audio books allow the multitaskers among us to read even when our hands aren't free. Choose the format that works best for you; they all count toward the completion of a reading program plan.

Most 2017 titles are available in print from the e-store; others are available in print, Kindle or audio through our Amazon store. When you click links on our Reading Programs list you will find these resources without having to search.
